  • Some of Australia and the world's best athletes are expected to compete for prize money and qualification points for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo
  • The announcement comes after some inspiring 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games performances from local athletes, including Nina Kennedy's gold medal in the pole vault

A red-hot line up of international track and field stars and homegrown talent will arrive in Perth in March next year for the highly anticipated return of the Perth Track Classic.

Backed by the Western Australian Government and reimagined as a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze level meet, the Perth Track Classic will take place in the midst of the Australian domestic season on Saturday, 1 March 2025, with international stars set to take on the cream of Australia's crop.

Perth locals and athletics fans will have the chance to cheer on their hometown heroes who dazzled on the global stage in Paris.

After a record-breaking 14 medals at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Peru last month, the Perth Track Classic is also a fantastic opportunity to see Australia's stars of tomorrow continue on the runway to the Brisbane 2032 Games.

The World Athletics Continental Tour is one of the world's premier track and field series, with the bronze level meet offering prize money and world ranking points which assist athletes in their quest for qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, taking place in Tokyo in September.

The last Perth Track Classic was held in 2020, and previous events have seen the likes of current Olympic Champion Nina Kennedy break the world junior pole vault record, and Kurtis Marschall hit world championship and Olympic qualifying jumps.

More information, including tickets, will be released soon, with athlete announcements to come in the following months.
