WA charities gain benefit boost from VenuesWest partnership
Four WA charities are set to receive invaluable support as part of VenuesWest’s successful Community Partners Program.
New additions OzHarvest and St Catherine’s College will reap the rewards of a two-year partnership, while existing charities Mentally Healthy WA and Fair Game have been renewed for 2021/22.
The program, established in 2016, aims to support charities to achieve their core objectives through tailored opportunities and benefits.
OzHarvest is Australia's leading food rescue organisation, delivering more than 100 tonnes of quality excess food each month to more than 90 charitable agencies across Western Australia.
In 2020, Oz Harvest estimated that the food donated by Optus Stadium during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to equated to 128,000 meals.
St Catherine’s College is a residential college without borders, offering on-campus accommodation for over 400 Perth-based university and TAFE students from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Through sports equipment drop off points, such as those at Optus Stadium, Fair Game provides recycled sports equipment to young people in remote communities - promoting health, education and fitness among local youth. It aims to build community capacity to encourage healthy lifestyle choices. While Curtin-based Mentally Healthy WA, operates the well-established Act-Belong-Commit mental health promotion campaign.
The Community Partners are selected by a panel of VenuesWest team members, following a month-long expression of interest process.
VenuesWest farewelled previous partners Shooting Stars and Indigo Junction thanking them for their strong contribution during their partnerships.
